Ninox is a radical new player in the remote tower services arena that tackles some existing problems - such as bandwidth and resolution - with new technology
Air navigation service provider (ANSP) Avinor has selected the first five airports in Norway to be equipped with the Ninox remote tower solution, under its NOK400 million (USD45 million) remote tower programme.
Avinor selected the Kongsberg Defence Systems - Indra Navia partnership in mid-2015 to deliver a remote tower solution to 15 of Norway's more isolated airports.
Ninox equipment will be installed at Rost on the western coast of Norway towards the end of 2016, followed by Roros, Hasvik, Berlevag, and Menamn airports. By early 2017, the remote tower centre at Bodo is expected to be in place, ready to start test operations.
